Common name: Alysicarpus, Durangi shevra (Marathi)
Botanical name: Alysicarpus pubescens Family: Fabaceae (pea family)
Alysicarpus is an erect or diffuse herb. Leaves uni, very rarely trifoliolate,
leaflets 2-stipellate; stipules scarious, acuminate, free or connate.
Flowers occur in terminal racemes or panicles. Flowers often occur in pairs
- this species has stunning bicolor red and yellow flowers.
A genus with about 30 species, distributed in Africa, Asia, Australia,
Polynesia and Tropical America.
