Botanical name: Cynoglossum zeylanicum Family: Boraginaceae (Forget-me-not family)
Ceylon Forget Me Not is an erect, branched herb; branches more or less
hispid with bulbous-based hairs. Leaves 3-8 x 1-1.8 cm,
elliptic-lanceolate, margin ciliate, entire or obscurely dentate, apex
acute, base cuneate or subacute, strigose on both surfaces. Flowers
bluish-white, in terminal, simple or furcately branched secund racemes ;
peduncle hairy ; pedicels 3 mm long, curved. Calyx 5-lobed ; tube 1 mm long
; lobes 2 x 1 mm, enlarged in fruit, hairy without. Corolla 3-4 mm long,
rotate ; Petals rounded at apex ; scales 5 at throat. Stamens 5, inserted
on corolla tube ; filaments short ; anthers 2-celled. is found at altitudes
1200-4100 m. Commonly found in Afghanistan, Himalaya (Kashmir to Bhutan),
India, Ceylon, east to China and Japan, Malaysia.
Flowering: June-November.
