Indigofera dosua - Dosu Indigo

Dosu Indigo is a shrub, 5-20 cm tall. Most parts of the plant covered with dense spreading brown or white hairs. Flowers are pink; standard elliptic to oblong, 8-10 x about 4.5 mm, tip with a short sharp point; wings oblong, 8-9 mm, hairless, margin fringed with hairs; keel 8-9 mm, tip pointed. Sepal-cup is about 3 mm, tube about 2 mm; teeth triangular, about 1 mm. Stamens 7.5-9 mm. Flower-racemes are 5-15 cm; flower-cluster-stalk 4-7 mm; bracts linear to narrowly triangular, 8-10 mm. Flower-stalks are about 3 mm. Stipules are linear, 7-10 mm. Leaves are 4-10 cm, 13-39-foliolate; leaf-stalk absent; axis with dense spreading brown trichomes; stipels minute or absent; leaflet-stalks about 1 mm; leaflet blades elliptic to oblong, 7-15 x 4-6 mm, below with dense trichomes, above with slender white trichomes, base wedge-shaped to rounded, tip blunt to rounded and with a short sharp point. Seedpods are linear, cylindric, deflexed to spreading, 3-4 cm x 3-4 mm, seeds 6-10 per pod, dark brown. Dosu Indigo is found on valley slopes, at altitudes of 1800-2500 m, India, Himalayas to SE Asia, and China. Flowering: April-June.
