Botanical name: Lomatogonium brachyantherum    Family: Gentianaceae (Gentian family)
Synonyms: Swertia brachyanthera, Lomatogonium thomsonii, Swertia clarkei

Dwarf Feltwort is a small annual herb, 2-7 cm high, delicate, hairless. Flowers are 4-8 mm, deep blue to purple, 4-5 petaled, petals divided to the base, 3-7.5 x 1-3 mm, oblong-obovate, pointed-tapering, entire, fringed or scales absent at the base. Stamens are 4-5, filaments dilated at the base, anthers basifixed. Sepal-cup is 4-5 lobed, sepals divided to base, 0.2-0.4 x 0.1-0.2 mm, nearly equal, elliptic-oblong, pointed, entire. Flowers are borne singly at branch-ends, on 1-2 cm long flower-stalk. Basal leaves are in a rosette, 0.2-0.6 x 0.15-0.4 cm, spoon-shaped-obovate, elliptic, pointed, entire. Stem leaves are very few or absent, 0.1-0.3 x 0.05-0.15 cm, elliptic, pointed, entire. Capsule are stalkless, 0.3-0.5 x 0.1-0.2 cm, elliptic, many seeded. Dwarf Feltwort is found beside streams, bogs, meadows around lakes, alpine meadows, at altitudes of 3200-5300 m, from Afghanistan to Central Asia and Himalaya. Flowering: August-September.
