Common name: Dwarf Himalayan Catmint
Botanical name: Nepeta lamiopsis Family: Lamiaceae (Mint family)
Dwarf Himalayan Catmint is a perennial herb, growing upto 25 cm. It is
probably one of the shortest amongst the catmints (Nepeta). Stems
are ascending, few branched and flaccid. Leaf stalk 0-3 mm. Stem leaf blade
broadly ovate-cordate, 1.5-2 × 1.7-2.3 cm, base heart-shaped, margin coarsely
crenate, apex obtuse. Flowers 1-3cm long, sepal rose colored, in ovoid spike,
with distinct, circular, leaf-like bracts, flower tube is 12mm long. Found in
rock crevices with favourable water regime, at altitudes 3500-5200m.
Flowering in June-August.
