Common name: Easter Lily Cactus
Botanical name: Echinopsis oxygona    Family: Cactaceae (Cactus family)

Easter Lily Cactus is native to South Brazil, Uruguay and northern Argentina. The plant has a spherical shape with 11-15 "wings" carrying spines. Flowers are large, at the ends of long tubes, white to lavender with sharply pointed petals, and a fine faint scent. Usually, the cactus will start to have little buds appear at its base. These buds can be plucked off and transplanted into a different pot for further growth into a mature cactus. Usually, the cactus will bloom in mid summer. Usually these are outdoor plants. These plants are used to the dry, desert climate, so they do not need to be watered every day.
