Botanical name: Rubus hoffmeisterianus Family: Rosaceae (Rose family)
Hoffmeister Raspberry is a rambling shrub, growing to 2 m tall. It has slender, hairy branches with curved back prickles. Leaves usually have 3 leaflets, with the central one the largest. Leaflets are mostly 3-5 cm long, with usually blunt teeth, densely white-woolly beneath. Leaf stalk also has prickles. Flowers appear in few-flowered clusters in leaf axils or at the end of branches. Flowers are light pink, with inverted egg-shaped petals. Sepals are oval, pointed, and woolly hairy. The berry is red or orange, 1 cm across. Flowering: April-May.
