Common name: Indian Gentian
Botanical name: Swertia hookeri Family: Gentianaceae (Gentian family)
Herbs, annual or perennial, 25-80 cm tall. Leaves mostly basal, in a rosette.
Stem leaves in whorls of 3-6.
Flowers 4-5-merous, sometimes nodding.
intracalycine membrane. Corolla pale blue-green to pale purple, with blue
veins, campanulate, 2-2.5 cm in diam., tube 2-3 mm; lobes oblong to
oblong-spatulate, 1.2-1.7 × 0.8-1.1 cm, apex rounded to truncate.
Indian Gentian is native to Bhutan, Nepal, Sikkim.
