Lahan is a small prostrate annual herb, growing up to only 10-15 cm high. The plant is branched from the base, and the branches are leafy. Alternately arranged stalkless leaves are 3-5 cm long, obovate, and bristle pointed. Flower heads on erect grooved stalks. Flower tube is 1 cm long, tubular and purple. A swollen, ovoid covering of bracts appears prominently belowe the flowerhead.
