Botanical name:Mussaenda glabrataFamily:Rubiaceae (Coffee family) Synonyms: Mussaenda frondosa var. glabrata
Long-Sepal Mussaenda is a plant which might be
mistaken for the more common
Dhobi Tree. However, it can be
distinguished by
its prominently long, thread-like sepals and orange flowers with a long
tube.
Flowers are borne in open cymes, with long bracts. Flower-tube is
silky,
petals broad, with a short sharp point at the tip. Branches are
hairless or
with scattered spreading hairs, leaves all stalked, broadly or narrowly
elliptic,
hairless or sparingly hairy beneath or on both surfaces, stipules
sometimes
very narrow. Long-Sepal Mussaenda is native to a restricted region of
Western Ghats.
