Lovely Dendrobium is a beautiful orchid growing on trees in the Himalayas. Flowers are borne in pairs from nodes of a pendulous leafless stem, 30-45 cm long, which in reality is a pseudobulb. Sepals and petals are white with violet tips, and the lip is white, yellow towards the middle, with a purple spot near the tip. Flowers are fragrant, smelling of violets. They are 4 cm across, with a funnel-shaped lip, with broad inrolled slide-lobes. Lip is minutely hairy on both sides. Leaves are linear-lanceshaped, 8-10 cm long. Lovely Dendrobium is found in the Himalayas, from Uttarakhand to Bhutan and Myanmar, at altitudes of 1000-2000 m. Flowering: May-June.
