Narrowleaf Golden Knob-Head is an erect herb, up to 40 cm tall, stems stripedd, hairy glandular; root stock woody. Leaves simple, alternate, stalkless, hairy glandular on both surfaces, spoon-shaped or oblong, 2-7.5 x 0.2-1.5 cm, base blunt, somewhat eared, entire to obscurely sawtoothed, apiculate at tip. Flower-heads are solitary, at branch-ends and in leaf-axils, yellow, heterogamous, rayed. Involucral bracts 3-seriate, equalling the florets, linear-lanceshaped, glandular and hairy, pointed or apiculate. Receptacle 5 mm across, pitted, slightly convex. Female florets 180, tube 3.1. mm, hairless, ligule oblong, 3-lobed. Bisexual florets 26, 3.1 mm, hairless, 5-lobed. Stamens 5, anthers linear-oblong, 2.5 mm, hood narrowly ovate, base arrow shaped. Pappus biseriate, outer scales fused scales formed into a cup, inner free, bristly, deciduous hairs. Achenes ellipsoid, brown, velvet-hairy with hairy. Narrowleaf Golden Knob-Head is native to the Indian Subcontinent and parts of the Arabian Peninsula. Flowering: October-January.
