Botanical name: Dichanthium foulkesii    Family: Poaceae (Grass family)
Synonyms: Andropogon foulkesii, Amphilophis foulkesii, Bothriochloa foulkesii

Nilgiri Bluestem Grass is a perennial grass, about 90 cm high, stems erect, nodes hairless. Leaf-blades are 10-35 x 0.4-0.6 cm, often involute. Flower-cluster is digitately fascicled, racemes 8-6, about 10 cm long; joints and flower-stalks about 2 mm long, hairy. Stalkless spikelets are about 4 mm and the stalks about 2 mm long, hairy, long, oblong-lanceshaped ; glumes as long as the spikelet, lower dorsally longitudinally depressed, 7-nerved, nerves distinct or not, upper 3-nerved ; awn about 2 cm long. Salked spikelets are slightly longer and narrower than the stalkless. Nilgiri Bluestem Grass is found in Western Ghats, Nicobar Island and West Himalaya.
