Botanical name: Pimpinella adscendens Family: Apiaceae (Carrot family)
Synonyms: Pimpinella pinetorum Pine Pimpinel is a low, clustered herb, with stems
many, 20-60 cm. Flower clusters are borne at branch ends, with an involucre of 4-8
bracts, and an involucre of 3 bracteols. Each small umbel carried 8-12
flowers, carried on 3-5 mm long stalks. Petals are white to pinkish,
obovate; sepals absent. Leaves are clustered towards the base, with 4-8
pairs of leaflets. Leaflets are circular, blunt, toothed, 0.6-1.8 cm.
Upper leaves are reduced, often more divided.
Pine Pimpinel is common in the Western Ghats.
