Botanical name: Pelargonium capitatum Family: Geraniaceae (Geranium family)
This gorgeous plant is native to southern Africa. It is a shrubby or bushy,
low-growing plant. It grows to a height of ± 0.3 m and about 1.5 m wide. The
sprawling or erect stems of the plant are soft-wooded. Individual side
branches can grow to a length of 0.6 m. The stems and leaves are sweetly
scented when bruised, and are covered with long, soft hairs of variable
density. The
flowers are a medium purple and the leaves have a pleasant rose scent, and
are dark green and fuzzy. When brushed with the hand or rubbed between thumb
and forefinger, the leaves emit a strong scent.
A tender yet tough Geranium. Beautiful small flowers,less prone to spotting on
the petals. Flowers stay a week or more. Foliage always looks full and healthy
even in the cold.
