Spiked Dracena is a shrub or tree, 1-4 m tall. Leaves
are crowded towards the ends of branches, lanceshaped- oblong to
lanceshaped-elliptic or sometimes spoon-shaped-inverted-lanceshaped or
narrowly oblong-elliptic, 16-37 x 3-6 cm, wedge-shaped at base,
decurrent into leaf-stalks, tapering and slenderly pointed at tip,
thinly leathery; midvein prominent; leaf-stalks 3.5-7 cm long,
sheathing at base. Inflorescence is simple, unbranched (very rarely
with 1-2 short branches towards base), 14-35 cm long, stalked; bracts
linear-lanceshaped, 2-7 cm long. Flowers arise singly or in pairs;
flower-stalks 3-7 mm long. Flowers 2-3 cm long, almost bell-shaped;
tepals linear-lorate, 6-15 mm long. Stamens are about 1 cm long.
Berries are orange when ripe, nearly spherical, 1-1.5 cm in diameter,
unlobed or 2-3-lobed. Spiked Dracena is found in India to Peninsula
Malaysia, Andaman Islands, Borneo.Flowering: February-November.
