Botanical name: Nymphaea lotus var. pubescens/pubescens/esculenta Family: Nymphaeaceae (waterlily family)
No pond is considered complete without water lilies. They are very common
in India, and easy to grow. Often confused with lotus, water lilies present
a gorgeous
view, often coveing an entire pond with the flowers and their floating
round leaves. Hybrids vary in color, ranging from pink, white to crimson.
There are some varieties which are fragrant. Waterlily is the state flower of
Andhra Pradesh.
