Botanical name: Lindenbergia macrostachya      Family: Orobanchaceae (Broomrape family)
Synonyms: Stemodia macrostachya, Adenosma cuspidata

West-Himalayan Lindenbergia is a robust rigid pubescent or hairless herb. Leaves are ovate to ovate-lanceshaped, serrate, up to 7 cm long, tip pointed to long-pointed. Flowers are borne in rigid unilateral dense or lax-flowered spikes, yellow. Calyx is longer than bracts. Flowers are 2-lipped, lower lip large 3-lobed, ovary hairy. Capsule is enclosed in persistent calyx. West-Himalayan Lindenbergia is found in lower Himalayas, from Pakistan to Nepal, at altitudes up to 1800 m. The plant is closely similar to Lindenbergia philippensis from East Himalaya. Flowering: March-May.
