Common name: Satara Lace Plant • Marathi: वायतुरा y-tura
Botanical name: Aponogeton satarensis    Family: Aponogetonaceae (Cape-pondweed family)

Satara Lace Plant is an aquatic herb 16-22 cm long. Leaves are green, lanceshaped, 3.5-8.5 cm long, 0.5-1.4 cm broad. Flowers are borne in pink-purple slender spikes. Male inflorescence are 5-7 cm long; tepals purple, turning rose to pale white. Female inflorescence are 2.5-3.5 cm long. Follicles are 6-7 x about 4 mm, seeds 1-2. Satara Lace Plant is found in Western Ghats. Flowering: June-August.
