Synonyms: Barleria paniculata, Barleria tomentosa var. glandulosa

Velvety Barleria is a shrub, with branchlets velvet-hairy. Leaves are 4-6 x 2-3 cm, ovate, tip tapering, base pointed, woolly below; leaf-stalk to 3 cm. Flowers are nearly stalkless in short in leaf-axils racemes; bracts spoon-shaped; sepals 4, to 1.5 x 0.7 cm, nearly equal, obovate. Flowers are 3 mm across, salviform, pink, tube up to 7 cm; stamens 2. Capsule 4-seeded; seed hairy. Velvety Barleria is endemic to Peninsular India. Flowering: December-March.
